Kristen Stathis joined Altman Riley Esher LLP in August of 2007. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Stathis served as an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County for almost three years. In her capacity as an Assistant District Attorney, Ms. Stathis handled all phases of criminal prosecution in jury and bench sessions, including trials, motions, plea negotiations, lobby conferences, arraignments and probation surrender hearings. She tried approximately thirty jury trials, and handled many more bench trials and motions to suppress. Most recently, Ms. Stathis was a member of the office’s Gun Prosecution Task Force, where she prosecuted individuals charged with firearms violations. Ms. Stathis also supervised the DA’s office at the South Boston Division of the Boston Municipal Court. From 2003 to 2004, Ms. Stathis served as a law clerk to the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court. As a law clerk, she assisted the Justices in all phases of criminal and civil litigation.

In 2003, Ms. Stathis graduated magna cum laude from American University’s Washington College of Law. During law school, Ms. Stathis was a member of American University Law Review. She was selected to serve as a student attorney in the school’s Federal Tax Clinic. During her second and third years of law school, she was also a teaching assistant for the first year research and writing course. During law school, Ms. Stathis interned at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, General Services Administration and the United States Postal Service Law Department.

Ms. Stathis is a 2000 graduate of Cornell University (B.A. American Studies). She was a four-year member of the Cornell Rowing team.

Ms. Stathis’ practice focuses on civil litigation and criminal defense.
